Addressing the complexity of the criminal justice process
Starting with identifying a suspect and continuing through rehabilitation of an offender, the lifecycle of the justice process includes law enforcement, legal agencies, courts, jails, prisons, probation and numerous support organizations. Much has been done, yet much remains to be accomplishedThrough information sharing governance, technologies such as Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and standards including the National Information Exchange Model, significant progress has been made to address the incongruence across the justice process. However, information sharing between criminal justice agencies is still in its early stages of development. How we can to make it betterDue to sheer number of agencies involved each bringing process variations, high workload volumes and differences in data, more complexity has been introduced into sharing information across the justice community. It is our goal to address this complexity at the lowest level, integrate the criminal justice functions for the agencies and departments that process the charges, adjudicate the case, incarcerate the criminal and rehabilitate the offender – especially given these departments have very tightly coupled business processes. The justice process involves different agencies performing their mandated function that ultimately converges to a single person.
Introducing AmCad’s Justice Platform Imagine a justice solution that is person-centric and extends from one end of the criminal justice spectrum to the other while maintaining the integrity of the data and information about each person throughout the system in a seamless manner. The AmCad Justice Platform is designed to do just that.
AmCad has its justice solution roots in the court case management space – which over the years has now expanded to address many prosecution and pretrial services, and sentencing and sanctions. From the moment a person leaves the hands of law enforcement and enters the criminal justice system, everything about that person – warrants, cases, sentences, sanctions and probation is already known to us. Our Court solution simply had to interface and integrate with several other systems (Magistrate, Jail Management to name a few) to obtain this information. Our Justice Platform provides these agencies and users with a common integrated and seamless platform, significantly reducing and often eliminating the need for integration. While some integration is still required with law enforcement and state and federal departments, integration at the local level is significantly reduced with our Justice Platform. AmCad believes in justice information exchange and is a strong proponent and user of the National Information Exchange Model. We also believe in uniformity within the criminal justice system and a fully integrated, scalable, configurable, adaptable and flexible single vendor solution. Spanning the sequence of the justice process goes a long way towards addressing the complexity inherent to the criminal justice system. Who can the Justice Platform Serve Built on a single codebase, sharing the same libraries, developed by the same team, the Justice Platform is modular and can serve the criminal justice community for large and small jurisdictions. The Justice Platform brings end-user friendly case management functionality while easing a jurisdiction’s Information Technology demands by reducing the number of systems and their maintenance. 1. Magistrate Case Management & Warrants – From when a person leaves the hands of law enforcement and is charged with a crime, our solution is tailored for magistrates to assess probable cause, initiate cases and issue warrants. 2. Pre-Trial Services – Providing victim based services, supporting the adjudication process with pre-sentence investigation reports and managing court programs and compliance are important and involved tasks. 3.
